Saint-Gobain NorPro Launches the Next Generation of Denstone® Support Media
Denstone® deltaP(TM) is the revolutionary new bed support technology that offers added value in fixed bed applications for the refining, petrochemical, chemical and gas processing industries.
Bed support media is used to "support" catalyst, absorbents and guard beds. Traditional support media are spherical in shape and available in various sizes ranging from 1/8" (3 mm) to 2" (50 mm). Denstone deltaP media's unique, nonspherical
shape was engineered to provide specific properties, yielding improved operating
performance and bottom line results.
Benefits of Denstone deltaP media include:
o Improved pressure drop performance across the support bed, outperforming spherical support media by 2:1
o Fewer layers required to retain the catalyst bed; in some cases only one layer of support media is required compared to traditional spherical media which can require several graded layers
o Faster and less complicated installation due to the fact that there are only one or
two sizes required to inventory and install
o A reduction in support media volume may result, potentially allowing more catalyst
