Supply Chain Software resolves capacity constraints.

Press Release Summary:

4C@Site provides real-time scheduling, monitoring, and tracking of manufacturing status. Software selects next best alternate resource for job when originally specified resource is unavailable, whether it is labor-, workstation-, or part-related. If no suitable resource is available, scheduling engine determines when to schedule particular orders according to resource availability. Program can also alert users to alternate resource definition.

nMetric's(tm) 4C(tm) Automatically Selects Alternate Resources for Production When Primary Resource Not Available

Delivery Schedules Are Met and Capable to Build Forecasts are Accurate

COSTA MESA, CALIF. - December 10, 2002 - nMetric today announced that mid-sized manufacturers can now assure that production orders are no longer held up because a primary manufacturing resource is not available when needed. In addition to providing real-time scheduling, monitoring and tracking of manufacturing status, 4C@Site selects the next best alternate resource for the job instead of wasting time waiting for a specific resource, whether it is labor, a workstation, a part or something else. "In many circumstances, more than one resource can handle a specific order," reports Tom Carpenter, nMetric CEO. "4C lets users define alternate resources as part of the definition of a primary resource. If the primary resource is not available, 4C will schedule the job using a substitute resource. If no resource is available, the 4C scheduling engine determines when to schedule that particular order at any acceptable resource's first availability."

For instance, Carpenter explains, if the first shift of labor cannot get to the job, 4C may schedule the order during the company's second shift. Or, when one workstation is incapacitated, it may shift the work to an alternate workstation. An acceptable part may have to be substituted for the preferred part.

Since the alternative resource may be less efficient or more costly, 4C can alert users as part of the alternate resource definition.

"Defining and automatically using alternate resources is another way that mid-sized manufacturers can optimize resources on their shop floors," Carpenter adds. "4C continuously monitors orders at every moment in real time to assure status and notify all who need to know if delivery expectations are being met. When and if resources or demands change or might change, 4C attempts to resolve any problems that could affect delivery dates and/or proactively notifies all specified partners. If there are prospective large shifts in plans or resources, users can proactively use 4C to manually determine the impact of various "what-ifs" on present order dates in the queue."

According to Carpenter, 4C also resolves at-risk orders, capacity constraints, manufacturing changes or other operational events that are impeding the order's progress and, again, notifies all who need to know in time to react accordingly. About nMetric nMetric's 4C system is the only software that provides mid-sized and smaller manufacturers with live scheduling, monitoring and tracking, messaging updates and analyses so that they can completely oversee all steps of their manufacturing process and proactively supervise the dynamics of their supply chain in real time to accurately predict what will happen.
