webplan 7.0 Extends Award-Winning Supply Chain Technology to the Mid-Tier

Technology Enhancements and New Investment Options Make webplan eSuppy-Chain Solutions Affordable and Accessible for Businesses of Any Size.

Newport Beach, CA - June 13, 2002 - webplan Corporation, a provider of supply chain management solutions for manufacturers worldwide, today announced webplan 7.0, the next generation of webplan's eSupply-Chain solution set that encompasses a range of technology and business enhancements. webplan 7.0, which builds on the company's industry-leading adaptive planning and collaboration technology, includes significant new functionality in the area of constrained planning and also introduces powerful new applications.

With this release, webplan extends the potential of its proven solutions to a much wider market. Modular solution design combined with attractive new investment options from webplan make eSupply-Chain solutions more accessible and affordable to a broader range of companies-especially today's mid-tier manufacturers and suppliers.

"Our objective with this release was to deliver a more comprehensive set of supply chain management solutions to the mid-tier market than any others currently available today," said Michael Ker, President and CEO, webplan, "With webplan 7.0 we are excited about achieving this with unique industry solutions that customers can implement quickly and easily and derive immediate value from-regardless of company size or revenue."

New Products
webplan 7.0 includes the powerful and flexible next generation webplan eSupply-Chain Solution set. Based on a modular and scalable architecture, these solutions can address today's pressing business challenges and scale to meet customers' changing needs. Two new eSupply-Chain Solutions are commercially available today.

Manufacturing Insight, a sophisticated, role-based Web-native supply chain planning and visibility solution that goes well beyond what traditional manufacturing planning systems offer. Manufacturing Insight differs from existing manufacturing solutions by enabling real-time analyses, what-if planning, and quick access to business-critical information-all the data needed to assess the impact of planned and unplanned events on the supply chain.

Manufacturing Insight introduces LaunchPad, a Web portal that enables role-based view and task flows that reflect the customer's unique business processes.

Constrained Order Scheduling, the result of more than two years of intensive research and development, is embedded in webplan's adaptive planning platform to provide real-time constrained planning and scheduling results that are far superior to traditional manufacturing planning approaches, which require you to use separate MRP and Finite Capacity Scheduling systems. Constrained Order Scheduling optimizes material and capacity utilization, creating achievable plans and schedules, ultimately providing better promise dates. For parts with multiple sources, Constrained Order Scheduling can optimize source selection based on cost, priority and allocation rules. If your products can be manufactured at more than one of your plants, or even at a contract manufacturer, Constrained Order Scheduling can help with make/buy decisions.

"We've experienced exceptional pay-back from our webplan implementation to date," said Michael Campisi, Site Executive and Operations Director at Raytheon Communications Systems, Largo. "With webplan's single data model we can validate data across the organization in real time. And webplan's what-if planning feature offers valuable decision-support capabilities. Overall, we have experienced significant increases in inventory turns and improved efficiency. We are impressed that with the release of 7.0, webplan continues to respond to customer requirements by delivering advanced supply chain solutions that provide a competitive edge to companies like Raytheon."

Technology enhancements to webplan CEO adaptive planning platform
webplan 7.0 encompasses a number of technology enhancements to ensure easy implementation, ease-of-use, and a smooth evolution path to meet future business needs. Enhancements include SOAP-compliant XML interface for open access to the webplan CeO Adaptive Planning Platform from both .NET and J2EE-based applications. This enables easy access to webplan supply chain information from virtually any platform. Upgraded B2B integration includes support for Microsoft Biztalk services and new XML event services for real-time distributed collaboration.

New Business Model
To make the purchase of eSupply-Chain solutions viable for a broader range of customers, webplan has a number of investment options to suit varying budgets.

A new rent-to-purchase option, exclusive to webplan, will be particularly compelling for companies with big business objectives, but smaller budgets. Designed with mid-tier companies in mind, the rental model eases the burden on capital budgets and reduces financial risk. At the end of the contract term, the rental agreement converts to a perpetual software license. Flexible terms also give customers the opportunity to opt out anytime during the contract.

"webplan has made its product more modular and more affordable (with their rent-to-purchase program) while addressing the customer side of collaboration to make it easier for smaller suppliers to participate in larger manufacturers' e-commerce programs," said John Bermudez, Senior VP, Research Operations, in The AMR Research Alert, May 10, 2002.
