Manhattan Associates' Business Intelligence Tool, SmartInfo, Enables Real-Time Supply Chain Event Management

Analysis, Monitoring and Alerting Tools Enable Greater Optimization of the Extended Supply Chain

CHICAGO - May 22, 2002 - Addressing the event management needs for the extended supply chain, Manhattan Associates, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANH), the global leader in providing extended supply chain execution (x-SCE(TM)) solutions, formally announced the release of SmartInfo® 2002R1, the latest version of Manhattan Associates' customizable business intelligence tool. SmartInfo 2002R1 analyzes information from supply chain execution systems, including Manhattan Associates' industry leading supply chain execution platform, PkMS®, to provide visibility into, and management of, the current supply chain activities. By adding monitoring, measuring and alerting to the product's powerful data analysis and decision support functionality, Smartinfo 2002R1 provides a sophisticated event management solution for optimizing supply chain operations.

"We at TNT are very excited about the new functionality in SmartInfo. It is going to help us manage our client operations with improved efficiency and allow us to keep our clients informed about exactly what is going on with their operations," commented Keith Goldsmith, vice president, technology services for TNT Logistics North America, Inc. "The system is a terrific complement to the existing technology that we deploy to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of our diverse client base."

Smartinfo, a component of MA Optimize, generates actionable information on supply chain activities, enabling companies to make strategic, informed decisions. This latest version includes comprehensive alerting functionality, which frees workers from their desktops by proactively identifying critical operational conditions. Based on conditions that a user has defined, alerts can be set up with multiple severities. For example, if the space utilization of the distribution center (DC) exceeds 85%, send a warning; if it exceeds 95%, send a critical alert. Users can also schedule where to send alerts based on the time of day. Alerts can be sent to any device that can receive text-based e-mail, such as a pager, PDA, mobile phone, home or work e-mail. The Smartinfo Alert Viewer allows users to monitor the current status of each alert, which is color coded based on status and severity.

Steve Banker, director of Supply Chain Solutions for ARC Advisory Group stated, "Smartinfo's ability to alert on both key performance indicator (KPI) information and real-time events gives companies true Supply Chain Process Management (SCPM). ARC firmly believes that a tighter integration of event and performance management is necessary for operational excellence in Supply Chain Management."

To further enhance its event management functionality, this latest version also provides expanded analysis and measurement of activities that occur both within and beyond the four walls of the DC. For example, users can drill-down into real-time data to analyze the workload across and within critical functional areas like replenishment and picking/packing. Through the analysis of this data, Smartinfo provides supervisors with information crucial to areas such as workload balancing, helping them to efficiently manage resources to complete remaining work in a timely manner.

For greater viewing flexibility, 2002R1 features an enhanced user interface that includes an integrated, customizable Web page called MyViews. With MyViews, users can display views of multiple KPIs based on historic data, such as units shipped in a given day, month or quarter, and real-time data, such as number of cases needed for replenishment, on a single dashboard. Users can also email or post their MyViews Web pages to the Internet, providing external users with quick and easy access to this information.

"Smartinfo was developed as a result of partnering with our users - from executives to inventory and shipping personnel," said Eric Peters, senior vice president, marketing, alliances and product strategy for Manhattan Associates. "Business intelligence and event management functionality were identified as essential for optimization of all areas. Today's supply chain generates a wealth of data - we've built Smartinfo to help our customers optimize that data to provide actionable information for immediate impact on their supply chain management."
