Supervisory ICs have manual reset and watchdog functions.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for portable and battery-powered systems, AS1910-15 series dual-voltage microprocessor supervisory ICs consume 5.8 µA typ and feature manual reset input and watchdog function with timeout period of 1.5 sec. Products operate over -40 to +125°C range, generating reset when one of 2 monitored supply voltages falls below factory-trimmed thresholds of 1.8-3.6 V and 0.9-2.5 V. Design safeguards that ICs are in correct state for VCC down to 1.0 V.

austriamicrosystems Introduces Dual-Voltage Microprocessor Supervisory Circuits with Manual Reset and Watchdog

AS1910-15 low power supervisory circuits are ideal for portable and battery powered systems

austriamicrosystems has introduced its new AS1910-15 family of dual-voltage microprocessor supervisory circuits with manual reset and watchdog functions. Ideal for portable and battery powered systems and all dual-supply applications, the ICs offer a very low power consumption of only 5.8µA (typ). They support a wide temperature range - from -40°C to 125°C - which makes them ideal for industrial applications.

The AS1913, AS1914 and AS1915 feature factory-trimmed thresholds to monitor a primary voltage between 1.8 and 3.6V, and a secondary voltage between 0.9 and 2.5V. For the AS1910, AS1911 and AS1912, the secondary monitored voltage can be user-adjusted via an external resistor divider down to 0.6V.

"The AS1910-15 family of supervisory ICs has been designed to generate a reset when one of the two monitored supply voltages falls below a factory-trimmed threshold and to maintain the reset for a minimum timeout period when both supplies are above their reset thresholds," said Walter Moshammer, Marketing Director Standard Linear at austriamicrosystems. "Furthermore the IC's design safeguards that they are in the correct state for VCC down to 1.0V, making them ideal for low-voltage systems with strict monitoring requirements."

The new family of ICs includes a manual-reset input for systems that never fully power the microprocessor down. Additionally, these devices feature a watchdog with a timeout period of 1.5 sec., that means if no clock is applied a reset is generated.

"Because of their low power consumption the AS1910-15 family is ideal for portable and battery-powered systems, embedded controllers and communication systems. This includes dual-supply applications such as computers, intelligent instruments, critical processor and controller power monitoring," said Walter Moshammer. "They are particularly well suited for use in microprocessor-based systems where the core processor typically has a 1.8V supply or lower while the periphery is powered with 3V or 3.3V. In such systems both voltages must be monitored simultaneously."

The devices are available in space-saving SOT23-6 packaging and with the following reset output types: Active-Low Push-Pull (AS1910/AS1913), Active-High Push-Pull (AS1911/AS1914) and Active-Low Open-Drain (AS1912/AS1915). They are also pin-compatible with Maxim's devices. The AS1910-12 is pin-compatible with Maxim's MAX6826-28 and the AS1913-15 is pin-compatible with Maxim's MAX6829-31.
