Superior Court of California, County of Kings, Selects Tyler Technologies' Odyssey® Integrated Court Management System

Kings County replaces legacy system with Tyler’s cost-effective SaaS model

DALLAS – Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a 5-year software as a service (SaaS) contract with California’s Kings County Superior Court for its Odyssey® Online™ court case management solution.

The Superior Court needed to replace its existing legacy software with a unified case management system to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services the court provides to its justice partners and to the public. After a competitive procurement process, Kings County Superior Court selected Tyler’s Odyssey SaaS solution, including case management, financial management, public access, and SessionWorks® Judge and Clerk editions to aid in courtroom efficiency. The court will also use Odyssey File Serve for simplified e-filing (electronic filing). This suite of software will help the Kings Superior Court eliminate paper, streamline procedures, and move it significantly closer toward an end-to-end electronic process. The implementation of Odyssey in Kings is being funded by the Administrative Office of the Courts through a special allocation made by the California Judicial Council. The funding provided is for the exclusive use of implementing the Odyssey environment.

“We look forward to partnering with the Kings County Superior Court to achieve its goal of increasing court efficiency through the application of technology,” said Bruce Graham, president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “We are making a significant investment in our California operations to ensure that Tyler is an enduring partner for the Kings County Superior Court, and all courts throughout the state.”

“Implementing Odyssey will allow the Kings County Superior Court to improve the efficiency of court operations quickly while establishing a long-term technology path that will continue to evolve and mature. By selecting a hosted solution, the court can implement Odyssey in a manner that minimizes upfront capital implementation costs, while at the same time provide the hardware, system administration and maintenance necessary for a modern case management environment,” said Kyle Snowdon, director of sales for Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “Tyler is honored to work with the Kings County Superior Court and we look forward to partnering with the court on this important project.”

Tyler’s Odyssey solution is used by more than 450 courts in 18 states, including nine statewide implementations, serving more than 75 million citizens.
