Sunpreme Double Glass PV Panels Demonstrate Extreme Ruggedness in University of Wisconsin's Antarctica Environment Simulation Tests

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunpreme Inc., a US-based Silicon Valley based solar company that designs and manufactures its own photovoltaic cells and panels, announced that its advanced GX300 panels have earned IEC 61701 salt mist corrosion test certification. Additionally, its PV modules successfully passed the Potential Induced Degradation Test (PID) under severe conditions of high voltage, high temperature, and high humidity.

The IEC 61701 accreditation and PID certification apply to Sunpreme's GX series modules, confirming the company's SmartSilicon technology can be used in a variety of tough operating conditions, including coastal and marine environments. The issuance of TUV certificates, as put forth by IEC's testing process, confirm that Sunpreme's unique and patented SmartSilicon panel design is robust and reliable - and designed to fit the needs of solar developers and commercial customers around the world.Sunpreme continues to focus on testing the reliability and safety performance of its product technology, and more recently passed rigorous extended Damp Heat testing (DH2000) and extended Thermal Cycling (TC600) testing - during which the panels were biased at high voltages, and elevated temperature and humidity levels.

"We are pleased to have passed these rigid guidelines once again on GX240 and GX300 as required by IEC's and UL's testing standards," said Surinder S. Bedi, Executive Vice President, Global Quality, System Products and Market Development for Sunpreme. "Our philosophy has always been to ensure that product reliability and safety are designed early into our products, and tested for world class standards. This enables our global customer base to truly rely on Sunpreme solar modules and systems to deliver guaranteed performance and reduced energy bills - for the next 25 years or more."

"The GX300 is a robust and reliable product that builds upon our SmartSilicon technology to reach even higher efficiencies. We will continue to design leading-edge products that delight our customers," said Frank Pham, Sunpreme's VP of Engineering.

In addition to being robust, GX300 modules have a lower thermal coefficient, which allow them to produce more energy per watt, compared to conventional solar panels. Sunpreme products are tested and certified to UL 1703, IEC 61646, IEC 61730-01, IEC 61730-02, and are aesthetically great looking products. Sunpreme is producing its GX240 and GX300 solar panels in high volume at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Jiaxing, China, and shipping product to customers globally.
