In early 2010, incorrect fee schedules were released for use by Medicare fiscal intermediaries resulting in underpayments for many claims processed between January 1 and May 31, 2010. Although the fee schedules were retroactively updated, thousands, perhaps millions of procedures were underpaid. The individual claim underpayments weren't large, but the numbers became astounding when errors were multiplied by hundreds or thousands of claims.

"For even a single practice, the numbers are considerable," said Tina Graham, COO for SuccessEHS. "One of our clients was potentially underpaid more than $150,000."

Graham continued, "Identifying and resubmitting underpaid claims could become a nightmare for practices. Without automation to estimate the total underpayment and identify affected claims, creating the details needed for the payer would be very time consuming or the issue may have been ignored. The Medicare Revision tool estimates total underpayment for the clinic and identifies underpaid claims for re-submission to Medicare for the recovery of underpayments.
