New DIP Devices Designed to Meet RoHS Requirements

End-to-End Stackable JS Series Available in Four to Eight Positions

Scottsdale, Ariz. (October 14, 2005) - NKK Switches, which continues to provide design engineers with innovative and dependable switch products, today announced the release of a new series of DIP switches.

The RoHS compliant JS series of subminiature DIP switches rounds out NKK's offering in this category of switches. The devices incorporate several distinctive characteristics including both through-hole and surface mount configurations as well as the choice of four or eight positions.

These end-to-end stackable devices have a sliding twin contact mechanism with self-cleaning action to provide smooth actuation and produce high contact reliability. The contacts are gold plated and prevent oxidation and sulfide effect. This contact mechanism also ensures stable contact resistance. NKK's use of self extinguishing UL94V-0 certified material in the cover and base provides high arc resistance as well as high insulation resistance. The JS series is rated at 25mA @ 24V DC.

The JS through-hole version is subminiature in size. Terminal spacing conforms to standard .100" X .100" (2.54mm) PCB grid. The terminals are slanted to ensure secure PCB mounting and prevent dislodging during wave soldering. Available actuation options include top actuated or piano. The through-hole versions are packaged standard in stick-tube.

The JS surface mount switches are subminiature in size. The switches feature gull-wing terminals to deliver secure PCB mounting and prevent dislodging during vapor phase and infrared convection reflow soldering. Its terminal spacing conforms to standard PCB grid with either .100" (2.54mm) or .050" (1.27mm). Extended and flush actuators are available. Packaging is either stick-tube or tape-reel depending upon switch configuration.
