Submerged Arc Flux suits offshore welding applications.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for submerged arc welding, Lincolnweld® 888 highly basic flux is classified to AWS H4 requirements for diffusible hydrogen levels under 4 mL/100 g of weld metal. It exhibits weld metal toughness and features packaging properties that positively impact moisture resistance. Product is suited for pressure vessel, shipbuilding, and structural fabrication as well as narrow gap applications requiring deep-groove slag removal.

Original Press Release:

New Lincolnweld® 888(TM) Submerged Arc Flux is Well-Suited for Pressure Vessel, Structural Fabrication, Shipbuilding and Offshore Welding

o Highly basic flux is designed for welding on carbon and low allow steels for critical applications that require excellent mechanical properties.

o Lincolnweld 888 is the only highly basic flux on the market today to be classified to AWS H4 requirements for low diffusible hydrogen levels.

o Offers robust low temperature impact toughness and CTOD fracture toughness.

o Delivers easy deep groove slag removal

Cleveland, Ohio - The Lincoln Electric Company's new Lincolnweld® 888 flux is well-suited for submerged arc welding in the offshore, pressure vessel, shipbuilding and structural fabrication industries. It is the only highly basic flux on the market that is classified to AWS H4 requirements for low diffusible hydrogen levels - under 4 mL/100 grams of weld metal.

Typical applications include narrow gap applications requiring superior deep- groove slag removal; multiple-pass mild steel and low alloy steel weldments requiring low temperature impact toughness; stress-relieved applications specifying superior mechanical properties; and step cooling applications.

In tests, this patent-pending flux design was able to deliver easier deep groove slag removal than the nearest competitor. It yields excellent weld metal toughness and features improved packaging which positively impacts moisture resistance.

The new Lincolnweld 888 flux is manufactured under a quality system certified to ISO 9001 standards and ISO 14001 environmental standards.

Lincoln Electric is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc-welding systems, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment.
