Thales Angenieux Unveils New Line Of Studio & OB/Sports Lenses


Includes Addition of 70X HD OB/Sports Lens & Advanced Display System.

Las Vegas, NV (April 8, 2002) - Thales Angenieux has launched a totally redesigned line of Studio and OB/Sports box style lenses here at NAB 2002. The new line includes the addition of a 70X HD OB/Sports Lens, as well as the addition of a unique Advanced Display System (ADS) to easily monitor lens settings and adjust digital features. A total of six lenses are included in the new Studio and OB/Sports Lens line.

"These new lenses have been enhanced technically, as well as ergonomically and aesthetically. We wanted to update the look of our lenses while further improving their performance," said Chris Beauparlant, U.S. Sales Manager at Thales Angenieux. "They look as good as they perform."

The new line of Studio and OB/Sports Lenses features Thales Angenieux's unique Advanced Display System. ADS indicates focal length, aperture, focus distance and depth of field, and allows users to set the digital functions of the lens -- including anti-breathing, f-stop and focus/zoom sensitivity controls.

The new line also includes the addition of a 70X HD OB/Sports Lens that delivers a focal range of 9.5 to 665mm (22 to 1330 with a 2X extender), and an aperture of f/2.2. The 70X HD OB/Sports Lens joins Thales Angenieux's the new lens line, which includes the 22 X 7.5 AIF, 62 X 9.5 AIF, 72X Digital AIF, 20 X 7.5 AIF HD, and 60 X 9.5 AIF HD.
