FCI Minitek(TM) IDC Receptacle Strain Relief Provides Lowest Profile Available
ETTERS, PA. (April 10, 2007)- FCI, a leading supplier of connectors and interconnect systems, is launching a low-profile strain relief for use with its line of Minitek(TM) 2.00mm pitch Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) cable receptacles. 2.00mm pitch connector systems are increasingly used in board-to-board and wire/cable-to-board applications because of the 38% space savings available when compared to 2.54mm pitch systems. With its comprehensive Minitek product line, FCI offers one of the most complete ranges of 2.00mm pitch connectors available.
"IDC connectors are used for flat cable-to-board connections and FCI's current offering includes shrouded headers and IDC receptacles with circuit counts spanning 4 to 50 contact positions," said David Sideck, Regional Market Manager, FCI. "This new series of strain relief components provides additional retention force for more robust cable attachment and better protection of the IDC contact terminations, making it ideal for applications in harsher environments, such as industrial control units. "
The height of the assembled strain relief and IDC receptacle, including the flat cable, is only 12.5mm, providing the lowest vertical profile in the market. The strain relief is sold separately, allowing for installation when cable assemblies are initially manufactured or can be added later to assembled cable ends already in field use.
Pricing for the Minitek for IDC receptacle strain relief components range from $.01 to $.015 per contact position. The parts are available from stock to four weeks.
