Strain Gauge Meter captures peaks at 60 readings/sec.

Press Release Summary:

Laureate Model SG enables peak value of reading to be automatically captured for display on meter or transmittal to computer as serial data. Suited for testing applications that look for breaking point of materials or structures, UL-listed digital panel meter for strain gauges offers 3 selectable scaling methods and accuracy of 0.01% FS, ±2 counts. Strain gauges with 20 mV output can be scaled to display up to 10,000 counts, while 200 mV output can be scaled to 99,999 counts.

Laurel Strain Gauge Meter Captures Peaks at 60 Readings/Sec

Costa Mesa, CA - Laurel Electronics, Inc. announces the Laureate Model SG, a UL-listed digital panel meter for strain gauges. The peak value of the reading can be automatically captured at read rates up to 60/second for display on the meter or transmittal to a computer as serial data. Capturing strain gauge data at such high read rates is ideal for testing applications which look for the breaking point of materials or structures.

Accuracy is an exceptional 0.01% of full scale ± 2 counts, even at high read rates. Strain gauges with a 20 mV output can be scaled to display up to 10,000 counts, while a 200 mV output can be scaled to 99,999 counts. Reading are mathematically converted for display in engineering units, such as Lbs. A stable reading in electrically noisy environments is achieved by an adaptive moving average filter, which removes noise yet responds quickly to actual changes in signal level. The recorded peak can reflect the filtered or unfiltered signal.

Three scaling methods are selectable: scale and offset, two-point method, and system-level calibration using actual transducer signals.

A built-in, isolated excitation supply with selectable 5, 10, and 24 Vdc outputs is standard to power bridges and other potentiometric transducers, where the output is a changing resistance. The isolated 10 Vdc, 120 mA excitation output can power up to four 350 ohm strain gauges or bridges in parallel. When powering strain gauges or potentiometers, the excitation output is monitored by the meter to eliminate errors caused by variations in the excitation voltage.

Options include dual relays for control or alarm, isolated 4-20 mA and 0-10V analog outputs, and an RS232 or a dual-connector RS485 port for data communications with a host computer or PLC. Modbus RS485 is fully supported.

The base price is $210. For product specifications and the pricing of options, visit www.laurels.com/process.htm
