Arista Introduces New i-RAID 3000 Series with HDD Fail Safe Ability

The series features 2U, 4U and desktop tower configurations with hot swappable HDDs, cooling fans and power supplies

Fremont, CA - July 3, 2002 - Arista Corporation, a leading industrial PC solutions provider and system integrator, introduces its new high-speed Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) system, the i-RAID 3000 Series. Designed to meet the growing demand for low cost, high density storage systems, the i-RAID 3000 Series is ideal for IT professionals requiring high reliability, low maintenance, user friendliness and high-density storage.

Available in desktop, (model 3600S and 3600F) 2U, (model 3820) or 4U, (model 3800) configurations, the i-RAID system can have Hard Disk Drive (HDD) failure without impacting existing data. The failed drive can be rebuilt with no interruption to the host. Arista's easy hot swappable eight HDD trays are ideal for quick and easy installations or upgrades to the system. Hot swappable redundant power supplies also protect system operation.

The i-Raid 3000 is processed by an Intel 960 RN 64 bit Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) microprocessor and holds up to eight Enhanced IDE (EIDE) ATA-66 or UDMA-66 IDE HDDs providing large storage capacity, which can be more cost-effective than Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) and Fibre channel hard disk drives. The i-RAID 3000 has a LVD and Fibre channel host interface which enables the IT professional to deploy IDE RAID into SCSI Fiber channel Storage Area Network (SAN) environments. The system gives the IT professional maximum efficiency and capability to establish data handling systems in multi-server applications such as; movie automation, graphics design, video storage, digital broadcasting, video streaming and other applications requiring redundant storage capacity. System information is accessible through the LCD control panel located on the unit or with the RAID manager utility.

Pricing and Availability

The new series is currently available in 3 models, the 3600, 3820 and 3800 with prices starting at $3500 per unit. Lead-time is 2-4 weeks. Volume discounts are available.
