VANCOUVER, Wash., Nov. 18 - CRU-DataPort(TM), developer of data security and storage devices since 1986, announced a new addition to its product line; the DataPort HotDock(TM), an external desktop storage enclosure that uses DataPort V removable hard drive carriers to enable users to swap between multiple IDE hard drives, wherever and whenever they want, with almost any laptop, desktop or server.

The HotDock features both USB 2.0 and FireWire interfaces making Plug-and- Play installation easy on both PC and MAC systems. There's no need to power down your computer to Hot-Swap between drives, giving you fast access to your entire digital library. The HotDocks' space saving design allows it to be stacked or positioned vertically and includes a low-noise cooling fan to protect fast running drives. The DataPort HotDock includes both USB and FireWire cables, plus a power supply and begins shipping later this month.

Accessories include additional DataPort removable Drive Carriers, lightweight DataPortable(TM) carrying cases and DataPort Receiving Frames which mount into any standard 5.25" half-height computer bay, enabling full IDE ATA 133 MB/sec transfer rates. USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 support transfer rates up to 480 Mb/sec and 400 Mb/sec respectively, and standard USB cabling allows connecting the device up to 16 feet away from the computer.
