Northern Storage Suite for NetApp increases manageability of NetApp devices across enterprise environments and decreases overall cost of networked storage
TAMPA, Fla., June 19 -- NORTHERN, global providers of flexible, easy to administer, Windows-based storage resource management software solutions, today releases Northern Storage Suite for NetApp, bringing state-of-the-art storage resource management to NetApp NAS devices. While previous versions of Northern Storage Suite enabled remote management of NetApp devices, Northern tailored their industry-leading SRM tool to fully integrate with NetApp devices, using NetApp's own ManageONTAP® API's. Northern Storage Suite for NetApp affords site administrators flexible, granular and scalable enterprise storage management within a non-intrusive, low impact architecture - an important consideration for large-scale NetApp administration.
Northern Storage Suite for NetApp introduces three key features to provide enhanced management of NetApp storage devices across enterprise environments:
o HIGH-SCALABILITY QUOTA TECHNOLOGY -- allows for the monitoring of disk
objects without interruption of file system activity - enforcing disk
quotas and maintaining maximum filer performance.
o FPOLICY-BASED FILE BLOCKING QUOTAS - prevents specific file types from
being saved.
o NETAPP QUOTA RULES - viewing, setting and editing can be done within
the suite's interface, simplifying management and allowing for smooth
migration for NetApp administrators who are using the built-in Data
ONTAP technology.
