Overview
The IBM TotalStorage® SAN n-type family of enterprise director and switch products introduce new features for the IBM TotalStorage SAN256N director (2045-N16). The SAN256N director (2045-N16) offers support for fabric-level hard and soft zoning, and scalability up to 16 I/O blades in an 18U rack-mount director chassis.
The IBM TotalStorage SAN256N (IBM 2045-N16) is now available with new:
10 Gbps Inter-Switch Link (ISL) Blade: Twelve 2 Gbps Fibre Channel/FICON(TM) ports and a single 10 Gbps director ISL port
Fourth Switch Module: Additional internal bandwidth to support the 10 Gbps ISL blade
Director cable management features
Country kits: More added for the Enterprise Manager Server Bundle
Additional flow group and quality of service management functions designed to enable a wide range of capabilities to implement "service-level" control are also now available as part of the existing SAN Services Bundle (#7303). Customers who already have the SAN Services Bundle installed can get these new features by upgrading their 2042-N16 to firmware level 1.5.
The IBM TotalStorage n-type family is designed to support high-scalability; enterprise-level availability and performance; flexible management system architecture; FCP and FICON operation; FICON Cascading; and FICON CUP support. It is compatible with the CNT FC/9000 and UltraNet Multi-Service Director® (UMD) (IBM 2042) product lines.
