Stolen Vehicle on East Coast Recovered Within 60 Minutes with Help from Midwest Software Company
St. Louis, MO - March 14, 2007 -- A brand new $40,000 Chevrolet Silverado truck was stolen from the parking lot at Inland Center Mall in San Bernardino, California, but recovered in less than one hour with SmartLOCATE software from St. Louis-based Agilis Systems (www.agilissystems.com). The vehicle was stolen around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 9. The owner of the vehicle made his first call to the police and next to his company to have his laptop tracked.
Within 10 minutes of being contacted by an employee of Premium Distributing, Agilis software was able to locate the vehicle and provide detailed address information, which was given to the City of Pomona (California) police who recovered the car shortly thereafter.
The distributor's employee had his company laptop charging in the car when it was stolen. The laptop was equipped with a Sprint Aircard, including a subscription for SmartLOCATE. This Agilis software works in conjunction with Sprint's technology, providing an interface with the wireless carrier's tower triangulation signal tracking. Once the signal was located, SmartLOCATE pinpointed it to an exact address.
According to the investigating officer of the City of Pomona Police Department, the vehicle was found at the exact location provided by Agilis. Because of the quick recovery, the vehicle had not been stripped and all personal inventory was still in tact.
