Ansell Expands TouchNTuff® Product Range

PARIS,  -- Engineered for the needs of personnel working with potentially hazardous  chemicals, the new TouchNTuff 83-500 Sterile Polyisoprene and TouchNTuff Sterile 93-700 Nitrile glove styles will be showcased at Expoprotection 2012.

Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions, today announced the introduction of its new TouchNTuff 83-500 Sterile Polyisoprene and TouchNTuff 93-700 Sterile Nitrile gloves. Offering unrivalled protection that has become synonymous with the TouchNTuff product family, both new gloves are also designed to provide maximum comfort and performance in manufacturing environments requiring sterility.

The TouchNTuff 83-500 Sterile Polyisoprene glove is a new innovation made of 100% synthetic polyisoprene, a polymer designed to mimic the structure and attributes of natural rubber, ideal for users with latex allergies (Type I). The style provides wearers with a "second skin" fit and feel that delivers unrivalled comfort. Combined with Ansell patent-pending SureFit Technology(TM), the gloves securely fit to the forearm and prevent the cuff from rolling down, maintaining the integrity of a sterile environment. The gloves also offer an enhanced anti-slip finish on the surface of the fingers and palm for a greater degree of grip in both wet and dry work environments.

The new TouchNTuff 93-700 Sterile Nitrile glove style offers robust performance and chemical splash protection. Laboratory tests indicate the thinner gloves are more puncture and tear-resistant than latex alternatives, maximising protection and providing superior strength. Designed for sterile environments, the TouchNTuff 93-700 glove style provides a higher level of chemical splash exposure resistance for a wide range of chemicals, maintaining a high degree of comfort, longer cuffs for forearm safety and textured fingertips for optimal grip performance.

"On an annual basis Ansell sells more than billion glove pieces globally from the TouchNTuff family of products, a statement of trust in the brand and Ansell design and innovation" said Isabel Meurisse, category manager TouchNTuff EMEA. "Spanning the varying needs of the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, the new TouchNTuff 83-500 Sterile Polyisoprene and TouchNTuff 93-700 Sterile Nitrile gloves provide unrivalled protection and comfort, building on the TouchNTuff tradition of market leading protection since twenty years."

As the global pharmaceutical market grows, so will the need for protective solutions within sterile environments. With expected sales in 2013 to exceed $975 billion[i], the demand for gloves and other protection that caters for the needs of a wide array of users is extremely important. Natural rubber latex has traditionally been used in the manufacturing of personal protection equipment. However research conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) estimates that as many as 17 percent of people are allergic to latex[ii]. The TouchNTuff family of products is at the forefront of the industry move away from the use of natural latex and is a market leader in meeting the needs of workers at risk.

Furthermore, the TouchNTuff product family is designed for individuals working in demanding conditions while providing a superior overall user experience. Research conducted by Ansell for the TouchNTuff 83-500 Sterile Polyisoprene glove has found that two thirds (66%)* of those asked would wear the glove for longer periods when compared to their current glove style. This longer wear time is the result of greater comfort, which apart from chemical splash resistance requirements, is an important factor when considering what glove to use. A longer wear time contributes to productivity, reduces the risk of particle contamination when changing gloves and minimises the number of gloves consumed on a daily basis. In the end these benefits prove to be more cost efficient.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Ansell TouchNTuff is a market leading single-use glove range that delivers superior protection from harmful chemicals splashes across a wide number of industries, including chemical, general industry, research and pharmaceutical. The new TouchNTuff 83-500 Sterile Polyisoprene and TouchNTuff 93-700 Sterile Nitrile glove styles will be showcased at Expoprotection 2012** in Paris (04th - 07th December) and complete the TouchNTuff range, allowing Ansell to offer a single use glove for every need.
