Stereo Vision Vestibule Security System Gives Broadcast Facility Both Single-Person Entry Control and Group Access Capability

Seattle, Washington — Newton Security Inc., the global leader in the manufacture and supply of machine vision single-person detection products, recently announced the deployment of a T-DAR Lobby Shield™ man-trap style entry security system at a major east coast television broadcasting center. The Lobby Shield system, which features patented T-DAR stereo vision, was retrofitted into the main entry vestibule of the station and serves as the primary security screen.

The modular Lobby Shield system is a combination of ceiling-mounted stereo cameras, sophisticated software, a motion detector and interconnected electronic door locks that work in concert to identify, tag and track the human form within the vestibule, insuring that there is only one person entering at a time, thus eliminating the serious, well-recognized security risks of piggybacking and tailgating. Piggybacking occurs when an authorized person holds a secure door open for another person who is perceived to have access approval. Tailgating is the act of an unauthorized individual following an authorized person through a door without their knowledge.

The broadcast organization, which does not wish to be named, has a 24-hour operation at the site and the station security manager wanted a reliable, automated system that could insure the entry of only one authorized person at a time while ignoring any cart, luggage or parcel in their possession. Lobby Shield is designed to be easily integrated with the most common vestibule door control configuration: a card reader or PIN unit located outside and adjacent to the locked entry door. Unlike modular security portal units or revolving door products, the adaptive Lobby Shield system requires no extensive floor, wall or ceiling alterations and can allow group entry of audience members, program guests, or a handicapped individual with an assistant. Multiple people at one time may freely exit the building through the Lobby Shield without sounding an alarm.

"We're proud to have exceeded our client's expectations with the installation," said Rob Wheeler, President of Newton Security Inc. "This application of the T-DAR Lobby Shield is but another example of the flexibility that's possible with our unique and robust detection system."
