Original Press Release:

Nyden Introduces it new MLN50 Mechatrolink-II 5-Phase Stepping Motor and Driver System

The Optimum Level of Motion Control Reliability:

San Jose, 4/21/08-Nyden Corporation and its parent company, Mycom Incorporated, are proud to introduce to engineers of all design calibers a host of High Speed Motion Control Network Stepper Motors and Drivers that use the widely-popular Mechatrolink(TM) II (MLINK-II) protocol for the most advanced and simplest-to-operate design efficiency and rate-rapidity in controller and motor/driver connectivity. The newly designed 5-Phase MLN50 Mechatrolink Stepper Motor and Driver Network series yields full programming command functions and offers communicational data rates up to 10Mb/s, with a maximum transmission range of 50m for optimal response time.

The highly-affordable and compact MLN50 High-Speed MLINK-II 5-Phase Stepping system (120 [W] x 175 [H] including bracket x 45 [D] mm) delivers a powerful performance upgrade over the original MLINK-I series. Worldwide OEMs can easily employ this stepper motor and driver system in operational compliancy with the patented Mechatrolink Network Controller Bus Communication Motion Link for an economical and groundbreaking option when building and automating a variety of highly industrial systems, such as designing robotic equipment, cutting systems, gantry modules, semiconductor production equipment, aerospace-related apparatuses, fiber-optic tools and finely-positioned medical devices. The new MLN50 unit is a 100V/200V AC Driver system, and is designed to be operated with Nyden's full line of advanced high-torque, CE-Rated 5-Phase Stepper Motors of various Nema sizes.

Furthermore, structured to specifically work in full compliancy with the High speed Mechatrolink II motion field network, the latest MLINK-II contrivance is expected to be an instant success for engineers and system integrators on a global scale by providing them with easier and more flexible system configuration, less wiring, and reduced cost spending.

The MLN50 MLINK-II 5-Phase Stepping system utilizes Nyden's own high-performance Pulse Generator Chip, the MPG1032, in order to execute advanced operating functions like Fast-Forward Positioning, Interpolation Feed, and Home. It is also designed to provide high-speed network integration with Nyden's own patented NanoDrive(TM) high-resolution positioning stepper systems (which performs microstepping and nanostepping stepping angles by providing 16 different resolution modes reaching from 1 Full Step to 1/1000th Step; hence, reaching 500,000 Nano(Micro) Steps/Revolution, with a resolution displacement of 0.00072°). This high-resolution capability offers users additional areas of flexibility, such as the liberty to develop their own Motion Field Network, which focuses on precise synchronous control and rapid response.

Furthermore, this also provides high-performance and high-accuracy motion control as the actual position data, speed data, input/output status and other control signals can easily be transferred in real time. Event output (hard output) is available at the time of designated pulse attainment.

Additional features for the new MLN50 include: External Input Positioning with Speed, Acceleration and Deceleration parameters setting, Linear and S-shape Acceleration and Deceleration switching selection with onboard Serial EEPROM, which can be rewritten 100,000 times. Control functions include Positioning Neighborhood Output, Electronic Gear and Soft Limit Output. It provides encoder (AB and Z-Phase) inputs along with several general purpose inputs and alarm signal outputs. The system also uses a USB-Type output connection to interface with other Mechatrolink-II compliant devices. One channel of communication can accommodate up to 30 stations on the network.
