Applied Motion Products' ST10 Stepper Drives Now Available with Robust Q Programming Language

Allows users to quickly and easily create and edit stand-alone programs

WATSONVILLE, CA - Applied Motion Products has expanded its family of OEM-friendly stepper drive solutions with the ST10-Q Stepper Drive. The ST10-Q delivers 8 digital inputs, 4 digital outputs and 2 analog inputs, with 24-80VDC input and output current to 10.0 A peak. They are specifically engineered to deliver maximum performance benefits in a compact and cost-effective package that satisfies the price and performance requirements of the OEM market.

The ST10-Q is quickly and easily programmed with Q - a comprehensive programming language used to create and edit stand-along programs with options for downloading, storing and executing multiple programs with a single drive. Functions include multitasking, math, register manipulation, encoder following and others.

Demand Signal Smoothing reduces extraneous system resonances while providing smoother motor performance and reduced wear on mechanical components. Torque Ripple Smoothing adjusts the current waveform to reduce low speed torque ripple for smooth motion at low motor speeds. MicroStep Emulation provides smooth motion for systems that require low step resolutions, such as retrofit systems with controller resolution that is fixed at a low value and cannot easily be changed. Self-Test and Auto Setup features measure and configure motor parameters automatically, while anti-resonance technology eliminates midrange instability for higher motor speeds and fuller use of available torque.

Option boards are available to add encoder feedback and RS485 functionality. The encoder feedback option board delivers motor stall detection, stall prevention and position maintenance.

Founded in 1978, Applied Motion Products specializes in cost-effective, high precision motors and motion control solutions. They offer a full complement of stepper and Brushless servo motors, positioning control electronics and gearheads to industrial and OEM customers.
