Steering Diode Array protects high-speed signal interfaces.

Press Release Summary:

By steering transient voltages to power lines or ground, DSL70 provides circuit protection against ESD, EFT, and secondary lightning threats for one line pair or 2 single lines. Ultra-low capacitance of 3 pF typ maintains signal integrity for high-speed data lines, while minimal leakage current suits battery-powered devices and PoE applications. Along with 225 mW continuous power dissipation, features include IEC compliance, molded JEDEC SOT-143 package, and UL 94V-0 flammability rating.

Original Press Release:

ProTek Devices' New Steering Diode Array Protects High-Speed Signal Interfaces from ESD, EFT and Lightning

TEMPE, Ariz. – ProTek Devices™ has introduced an ultra-low capacitance steering diode array that provides circuit protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical fast transients (EFT), and secondary lightning threats in applications that include USB ports and laptops. The new DSL70 component is also ideal in other high-speed signal interface applications. They include video interfaces, mobile devices, microprocessor BUS, POE and more.

The DSL70 is capable of protecting one line pair or two single lines via the steering of transient voltages to power lines or ground. Its ultra-low capacitance (3pF typical) allows maintenance of signal integrity for high-speed data lines. This is while protecting integrated circuits (IC) from the damage of severe transients. An extremely low leakage current is what makes the DSL70 suitable for battery powered devices and POE applications. The DSL70 also features 225 milliwatts of continuous power dissipation. This device meets several IEC standards. They include: 61000-4-2 (ESD): air - 15kV, contact - 8kV; 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A - 5/50ns; and 61000-4-5 (surge): 30A, 8/20 micro seconds - level 2 (line-gnd) and level 3 (line-line). The part is also RoHS and REACH compliant.

ProTek Devices' DSL70 is provided in a small molded JEDEC SOT-143 package. This reduces internal lead inductance for low overshoot voltage during fast front time transient events, such as ESD. The component's approximate weight is just nine milligrams. Other key mechanical characteristics include lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and a solder reflow temperature of (pure-tin - Sn, 100) 260 to 270 degrees Celsius. Operating and storage temperatures are -55 to 150 degrees Celsius. It also has a flammability rating of UL 94V-0.

Pricing and Availability

ProTek Devices' DSL70 is now available in mass quantities. Pricing varies by amounts, with reel sizes starting at either 3,000 or 10,000 quantities. This is per 8mm tape and reel EIA standard 481. For pricing details, interested parties should inquire with a local authorized distributor or directly with ProTek Devices. Complete contact details and a data sheet for the DSL70 steering diode array can be found on the new redesigned ProTek Devices website. In addition, there are links available to Android and iOS apps for complete parts searches and details.
