World's First Tubular Pre-Drilled Steel Shaft Components Debut for Applications in Linear Motion and Power Transmission Systems

Piscataway, NJ - LEE Controls, Inc. has boldly gone where no other manufacturers in the linear motion and power transmission industries have gone before. The company that only six months earlier introduced the innovative LEE linear carriage lock now heralds the arrival of the world's first tubular pre-drilled steel shafting components.

"LEE Controls, Inc. has always been regarded as an industry innovator," says Jim Ashworth, the company's vice president. "Our long term investments in research and development have been consistently rewarded with new, unique and improved precision engineered components that provide manufacturers with exceptional value, including superior load carrying capability at higher speeds, longer lasting operation before replacement and wider selection to mate with existing components," he adds.

According to Ashworth, the tubular pre-drilled steel shafts are produced from the company's renowned 60 Plus® 52100 material. Pre-drilled and tapped every 8," they are available in 1-1/2" and 2" diameters in lengths up to 12 feet. The company also supplies the shafts fully mounted to support rails as shaft assemblies (SA). A complete inventory of tubular pre-drilled steel shafting components is maintained to ensure prompt delivery.

The benefits of tubular shafting lie in its strength - per unit of mass, it is stronger and more rigid than solid pre-drilled shafting, the company claims. Lighter and lower in weight, it
will cool more quickly than solid shafting, extending the life of slide bushings operating at high load and high speed.

The LEE Controls Tubular Pre-Drilled Shafts can be used as conduit for electrical control lines, pressurized air lines for pneumatic devices, or hydraulic lines. In high speed manufacturing operations, for example, these lines are less susceptible to rupture or damage when protected in this manner.
