New Thermo-Dynamic Steam Trap Reduces Energy Consumption and Maintenance
BLYTHEWOOD, SC - Spirax Sarco, Inc., has introduced the Cool Blue TD-52(TM) thermo-dynamic steam trap line, offering significantly reduced life cycle energy consumption and maintenance requirements compared to conventional designs. The Cool Blue steam trap, distinguished by its blue stainless steel insulation cover, features a specially engineered ceramic disc material with lower heat conductivity than conventional steel alloy caps on disc traps. The ceramic insulated cap was tested in an ambient test chamber to prove its operational characteristics.
The trap has a triangular, 3-port discharge pattern to guarantee parallel disc lift for uniform wear across the entire seating surface. The furnace hardened disc and induction-hardened seat gives the trap very hard surface to withstand the impact of opening and closing of the trap. Both the hardening and port design prevent premature wear or erosion of the seating surfaces.
The Cool Blue trap also offers increased subcool, slower cycle rate and reduced flash steam losses. The trap has a maximum operating pressure of 600 psig (42 barg) and maximum operating temperature of 800°F (427° C). It is available in sizes 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1" NPT, and in Spirax Sarco's convenient Universal two-bolt flange connector configuration for easy installation and replacement in existing and new lines.
The Cool Blue trap is recommended for applications such as steam main drainage and tracer lines, process equipment, laundry and kitchen equipment, superheated steam applications and outdoor installations subject to freezing. Every trap is 100% air tested and steam tested at factory to guarantee performance. As with previous components of the TD-52 product line, its performance is backed by a 5-year warranty.
