Original Press Release:

Bestobell Steam Offers Integral Blowdown Valve

Bestobell Steam now offers an integral blowdown valve on its Delta Element Steam Traps.

The Bestobell Delta Element steam traps are unique in that they employ a hybrid design that utilizes both thermostatic and thermodynamic principles to achieve a continuous modulating discharge of condensate as it forms, and eliminates live steam loss. The combination of a temperature-sensitive closing force (thermostatic element) and a pressure-sensitive opening force (thermo-dynamic valve) overcomes the sluggishness and susceptibility to service failure than can be encountered with traditional bimetal designs. The valve design utilizes the thermodynamic pressure forces of the flashing steam to provide quick response and a wide operating range closely approximating the steam curve.

The new integral blowdown valve is a complete assembly which allows the customer, with a 3/8" "open-ended" or adjustable wrench, to turn the valve stem to open the valve for blowdown. Also available is the DTC (double threaded cap) option which allows a customer to install a small length of pipe and ball valve for blowdown.

For customers with existing Delta Element traps, a retrofit kit with replacement gasket is available.
