ADLINK Technology has released its newest product offering, the PXI Starter II. The PXI Starter II features ADLINK's latest PXI controller and a 3U 6-slot PXI chassis. The combination of the PXI-3800 and PXIS-2506 make building automatic test equipment (ATE), data acquisition systems, and production test systems fast and easy. The PXI Starter II is available at a starting price of $2950 until February 28, 2005.
The PXI-3800 is a state-of-the-art 3U PXI controller from the ADLINK PXI product line designed to meet the highest performance requirements for embedded computing. The PXI-3800 system controller complies with PXI specifications Rev. 2.1 and features many new technologies such as up to 1.8 GHz Pentium. M CPU support, hot swappable CompactFlash card, USB 2.0 ports, and gigabit Ethernet. Using Intel's Embedded Pentium. M CPU and Intel. 855GME and 6300ESB chipsets, the PXI-3800 provides both long life and excellent driver support to meet the requirements of industrial applications. The PXI-3800's architecture supports the following operating systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Linux.
The PXIS-2506 chassis provides one system slot and five PXI peripherals slots and is compliant with PXI specifications 2.0. The internal 10MHz reference clock is available on all five PXI slots as well as the functionalities of star trigger, PXI trigger bus, and PXI local bus. The standard PXIS-2506 chassis is equipped with an industrial-grade 250W CompactPCI power supply to provide reliable power to the entire system. DC input power modules are optional. A wall/panel mount kit is included.
The strength of the PXI Starter II is its versatility to make it suitable for a wide variety of applications including electronic manufacturing, automotive and process control/data acquisition testing. Target customers include electronic manufacturers, system integrators and OEMs.

The PXI Starter II is available starting at $2950 which includes the PXI-3800, a 3U PXI system controller equipped with Pentium. M 1.6GHz CPU, 512MB SDRAM and 40G HDD and the PXIS-2506, a 3U six-slot chassis with a power module. Operating systems can be installed at an additional cost. This introductory rate expires on February 28, 2005.
