Star-P Named 'Most Significant New High Performance Computing Software'

Wins HPCwire's 2006 Editors' Choice Award

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 14 // -- Interactive Supercomputing's (ISC) Star-P(TM) software won the HPCwire 2006 Editors' Choice Award for Most Significant New HPC Software Product. The award, announced yesterday at the SC06 international conference, is widely recognized as the most prestigious in the technical computing industry.

Each year HPCwire polls its global database of readers, contributed editors and industry luminaries to pick the winners of its prestigious awards. Star-P won the award because it transforms powerful parallel servers and clusters into easy-to-use, interactive desktop tools to quickly solve large scientific and engineering problems.

"It's exciting when the industry affirms what your customers have been telling you," said Pete Petersen, ISC's CEO. "We believe Star-P will bring huge productivity gains in scientific and engineering discovery by making HPCs accessible to everyone, not just computer scientists."

Star-P is an interactive parallel computing platform that enables users to code algorithms and models on their desktops using familiar mathematical software packages such as MATLAB(R) and Python and run them instantly and interactively on parallel HPCs.

About Interactive Supercomputing

Interactive Supercomputing (ISC) launched in 2004 to commercialize Star-P, an interactive parallel computing platform. With automatic parallelization and interactive execution of existing desktop simulation applications, Star-P merges two previously distinct environments - desktop computers and high performance servers - into one. Based in Waltham, Mass., the privately held company markets Star-P for a range of security, intelligence, manufacturing, energy, biomedical, financial, and scientific research applications.
