Sandmeyer Steel Company Adds LDX 2101 (UNS-S-32101), A Lean Duplex, Low-Nickel Stainless Steel

Philadelphia, PA - November 27, 2007

Sandmeyer Steel Company has added LDX 2101® (UNS-S-32101, EN1.4162) to its extensive line of corrosion resistant stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products. LDX 2101® is a low-nickel, nitrogen-enhanced lean duplex stainless steel. The austenitic-ferritic (duplex) structure of the alloy provides very good resistance to uniform corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress-corrosion cracking. LDX 2101® has corrosion resistance similar to 304 but much higher mechanical strength. This enables it to be utilized in thinner cross-sections which provide cost savings to the end user. The addition of LDX 2101® will allow Sandmeyer Steel Company to better service the chemical and petrochemical, food and beverage processing, offshore oil and gas production, power generation, pulp and paper, seawater desalination, and water and wastewater treatment industries.

Sandmeyer Steel Company is stocking LDX® 2101 in plate thicknesses from .1875" (5 mm) through 2.00" (51 mm) thick. The Company also inventories a complete line of other duplex grades including 2205, 2304 and 2507; SSC-6MO, a superaustenitic 6% molybdenum alloy; 300 series stainless steels; 17-4 PH; 410, and the recently added 410S. Sandmeyer Steel Company also stocks a large inventory of nickel alloy plate including 330, 400, 400AR, 600, 625, 800H, 800AT, and C276. With over 100 pieces of in-house plate processing equipment, Sandmeyer Steel Company offers unmatched value added plate processing capabilities.

Sandmeyer Steel Company was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer. Family owned and managed, the Company is recognized as a leading producer of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products. Sandmeyer Steel Company's products are used in process equipment for the chemical, energy, food and beverage, pharmaceutical/biotechnology, pollution control, power generation, pulp and paper, shipbuilding, thermal treatment, high vacuum, and water treatment industries. The Company services customers worldwide.
