New Stainless Steel Electrode for Seawater Applications



Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced a flux cored electrode designed to weld duplex stainless steels. This new all position stainless steel wire, Select 2209-AP, exhibits high strength with excellent corrosion resistance, especially to pitting from chlorides in seawater.

Select 2209-AP provides a stable arc with very low spatter. The slag removes easily to enhance productivity and the weld bead is shiny, smooth and silvery.

Select 2209-AP is well suited for welding stainless steels such as 22% chromium, 5% nickel and 2% molybdenum-nitrogen types. It is formulated for welding similar materials in a broad range of demanding applications including the chemical and fertilizer industry, offshore pipelines and sour gas lines.
