Ruland Manufacturing Offers Stainless Steel Collars for Corrosion Prevention in Harsh Environments
Marlborough, October 2004. In harsh and wet environments, Ruland is offering stainless steel shaft collars to prevent corrosion. With typical steel collars, even those with a zinc or nickel finish, water, salt and other chemicals can have a detrimental effect on the performance of the collar. Type 303 stainless steel, with its passivate surface finish, resists water and many commercial grade chemicals, such as chlorine and some acids. This material is ideal for wash-down applications such as those found in food processing and marine applications.
The collars are available in one- and two-piece clamp-style designs with bore sizes from 1/8" to 6" in the inch series and 3mm to 80mm in the metric series. Threaded bore collars are also offered with inch and metric threads. All Ruland shaft collars are single point faced to ensure perpendicularity and proper alignment. Ruland uses forged socket hardware in all its shaft collars, which allows for higher screw torque and increased holding power.
Shaft collars are part of Ruland's complete product line which also includes rigid couplings and five types of zero-backlash motion control couplings: beam couplings, bellows couplings, oldham couplings, miniature disc couplings and curved jaw couplings.
