Stage Wagon Aboard New RCCL Allure Utilizes Serapid SCT Silent Rigid Chain Technology

Royal Caribbean International's newest ship, Allure of the Seas (sister ship to Oasis of the Seas) features a production of the hit Broadway Musical - Chicago: The Musical. Scenery movement for the show is facilitated by SERAPID's SCT Silent Rigid Chain system which pushes a large band stand wagon across the stage.

The system built for Allure will move a large band stand wagon up and down the stage inside the Amber Theater. It will travel a distance of approximately seven feet, at a speed of six inches per second stopping in three locations.

The SCT is a specially designed Rigid Push/Pull chain system, with the ability to move a stage or scenery wagon across the stage - left to right or front to back. Just like SERAPID's original rigid chain systems, this chain is rigid in one direction, and flexible in the other direction. The chain runs on plastic rollers in an aluminum guide track. The rollers move on plastic rails, ensuring minimal noise.

In addition to the equipment for Allure's production of Chicago, a number of SERAPID LinkLift columns and SCT Rigid Chain systems will be installed in other theaters aboard, including Studio B, the ships ice skating rink.

SERAPID LinkLift lift columns and SCT Rigid Chain systems are capable of withstanding the seismic vibrations caused by the waves at sea.
