Leviton Enhances 20 Amp Stage Pin Devices with Rugged New Features
New ergonomic profile speeds assembly; offers 30% more strain relief capacity than competitive devices
Little Neck, NY, February 3, 2009 - Leviton Manufacturing has enhanced its line of 20 Amp stage pin devices with a new ergonomic design that facilitates handling, speeds manual connects and disconnects and increases safety and reliability. The new design includes an industry-leading strain relief system that offers 30% more gripping power over other leading brands. The added gripping power reduces the possibility of injury or property damage that can result when cables are accidentally stripped from their connector terminals under load. The superior strain relief system extends cable life, saving replacement time and costs.
The line of 20 Amp stage pin devices consists of plugs and connectors and panel-mount inlets and outlets - ideal for use in a wide range of temporary lighting applications. This includes lighting in theaters, studio entertainment venues, concert halls and other areas where theatrical lighting is used.
The devices feature male pins and female contacts with a one-piece solid brass design for superior current flow and resistance from abuse. Pins and contacts "float" for improved reliability of connections with "split" pins and contacts, offering a spring action that extends device life by compensating for wear. The devices also comply with USITT S3 to ensure compatibility with a wide range of manufacturers' products. Terminal identification letters molded into the device ensure quick and accurate termination.
The 20 Amp stage pin devices feature rugged bodies constructed of PBT thermoplastic polyester resin with terminal covers made of polycarbonate for durability, long service life and superior high-heat resistance. The contoured body design provides a natural fit in the hand, reducing the fatigue that can result from repetitive connection and disconnection of cable assemblies. The smooth contour of the device reduces the chance that the connector will become entangled with stage drapes or equipment.
Dual screw fastening of the cover saves assembly time compared to triple screw fastening systems used in competitive products. A choice of crimp ring or screw termination options offer additional flexibility in wiring for installers. The devices are available with black or clear terminal covers, which can be hot stamped, engraved or made available with inserts for logos, to easily identify ownership.
