Stackpole Electronics, Inc. Expands the KAL Series of Aluminum Housed Wirewounds to Power Ratings up to 250w
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 12, 2007) - Stackpole Electronics, Inc. announces the expansion of the KAL series of aluminum housed wirewound power resistors. The expansion includes the offering of both a 100W and 250W size meeting RE-77 and RE-80 military specs. This important expansion to Stackpole's power resistor product offering further improves the breadth of the products offered, particularly in the high wattage area where there are relatively few choices for design engineers.
The expansion of the new sizes along with the many customizations of this product will give designers the ability to tailor the product to many different customer requirements, applications, and end products. The KAL series shows extreme customizability through the various lead configurations, fusing characteristics, and the largest core size to yield a lower internal temperature for a more reliable part. Also, the KAL series uses aluminum housing for maximum heat dissipation aided by a molded epoxy body for enhanced heat transfer.
The KAL series is available in 10W to 250W sizes, with tolerances as low as 0.1% and resistances from 0.05 ohms to 150 Kohms. Pricing depends on size, tolerance, resistance and order volume, but typically runs from $0.85 each for the KAL 10 5% to $11.00 each for the KAL 250 5%. Current leadtimes are 8-10 weeks, with samples available in 4-6 weeks.
