SRS Labs Brings Superior Surround Sound for Music, Movies and Games to Windows Vista

SANTA ANA, Calif., March 29 // -- The SRS Audio Sandbox(TM) (SAS), consumer software for the PC that creates a home theater audio experience for music and movie watchers, is now available for users of Windows Vista. The SAS was developed by SRS Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ:SRSL), a leading provider of surround sound, audio and voice technologies.

With the SAS, users can adjust seven independent acoustic settings using slider bars and can choose from several music/video presets to customize and enhance their audio experience using any media player on their PC. Furthermore, the SAS accommodates the user in their environment, wherever they choose to enjoy their media, in the office, in the living room, or on the go!

The software restores the clarity of vocals and high-frequency content that is typically lost during the compression process of digital files. The SRS Audio Sandbox also delivers a fully immersive, three-dimensional sound field and uses SRS-patented psychoacoustic technologies to maximize bass response without distorting or overdriving computer speakers and headphones. Additionally, users have the unique ability to perfect the balance of sound by using a virtual "zoom" lens to dynamically extract and position the dialog in the foreground or background of the audio mix.

"Considering what the PC industry has done in the past in terms of multimedia, Vista presents some major advancements," said Tom Yuen, Chairman and CEO, SRS Labs. "However, when it comes to sound quality, consumers' expectations have gotten more and more demanding. The SRS Audio Sandbox provides Vista users the home theater quality they are demanding on the PC."

A significant advantage the SRS Audio Sandbox has over other software is its ability to allow users to take advantage of surround content regardless of their speaker arrangement and ensures that sound quality will not be diminished by the physical limits of speakers or low-quality sound cards. For users that have a 5.1 or 6.1 surround sound configuration, the SAS creates true multichannel surround sound from any audio source, including stereo and mono. Conversely, for those computer setups commonly using only two speakers, the SAS takes multichannel content and uses a virtualizer to place phantom speakers around the room, providing a realistic and enjoyable surround sound experience.

The SRS Audio Sandbox will also work with Windows XP SP2 and comes with a free trial period, which can be easily converted to a permanent registration at any time during the trial. The new activation interface further simplifies the registration process and is available at www.srslabs.com/sas and other leading download websites. SRS Labs has also launched the SRS iWOW(TM), which is audio enhancement plug-in for iTunes on the Mac.
