SRL Detection Software includes defect wavelength display.

Press Release Summary:

FFT/SRL hardware/software package detects production line Structural Return Loss (SRL) to 6 GHz based on multiple parameters of data wire categories 5, 6, and 7, Local Area Network and coaxial cables. Parameters include changes in conductor diameter or insulation and capacitance, as well as variations in eccentricity, foaming, and bond. Eight parameters may be tied into this package via interface that accepts analog or RS values.

ZUMBACH FFT/SRL PACKAGE PREDICTS STRUCTURAL RETURN LOSS IN LAN, CATEGORY AND COAX CABLES

MT. KISCO, N.Y., MARCH 18, 2002 -- Zumbach Electronics Corp. has introduced a new FFT/SRL hardware/software package for detection on the production line of Structural Return Loss (SRL) to 6 GHz based on multiple parameters of data wire Categories 5, 6 and 7, Local Area Network and coaxial cables.

The parameters include changes in conductor diameter or insulation, capacitance, variations in eccentricity, foaming, and bond caused by extrusion equipment, all which have a negative effect on transmission quality. As many as eight parameters may be tied into this package via a flexible interface that accepts analog or RS values. The software provides an easy to read and configure "Windows" style user screen with context-sensitive help screens. The user of the new Zumbach FFT/SRL package may view Fast Fourier Transform amplitude as dB or as measurement value versus frequency or wavelength.

The software also includes a defect wavelength display with corresponding sheave diameter prediction. For higher frequencies up to 6 GHz, the system can also employ new Zumbach CAPAC* micro-focus capacitance tubes with a 10 mm active measuring field. The FFT/SRL package is available as a stand-alone PC-based system or may be integrated in the Zumbach CELLMASTER* or JACKETMASTER systems.

Information on the Zumbach FFT/SRL Prediction Package is available from the Marketing Department, Zumbach Electronics Corp., 140 Kisco Avenue, Mt. Kisco, N.Y. 10549-1412. Phone: 914-241-7080. Fax: 914-241-7096. Email: sales@zumbach.com.

CAPTION: Screen display by new Zumbach FFT/SRL Prediction Package shows data analysis generated through Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm with color-coded, user-defined tolerance limits. The system offers Structural Return Loss (SRL) prediction to 6 GHz during production on LAN, Category, and COAX cables.
