Socket and Test your Fujitsu Microelectronics's DFN12NT4*3 Using Kelvin Spring Probes
BURNSVILLE, MN - Ironwood Electronics recently introduced a new spring pin socket addressing precise resistance measurement need for testing power management devices - SSK-QFN-7000. The contactor is a spring pin with offset plunger. This offset design allows two spring pins to contact one device lead or pad. The Kelvin spring pins have 28 gram actuation force per ball and cycle life of 500,000 insertions. The self inductance of the contactor is 0.97 nH, insertion loss < 1 dB at 11.2 GHz and capacitance 0.58pF. The current capacity of each contactor is 2.8 amps at 80C temperature rise. Socket temperature range is -40C to +150C. Socket also features a clamshell lid for ease of operation. The clamshell lid has spring loaded compression plate for vertical force without distorting device position.
The specific configuration of the package to be tested in the SSK-QFN-7000 is a DFN, 4x3mm, 0.5mm pitch, 12 positions with center ground pad. The socket is mounted using supplied hardware on the target PCB with no soldering, and uses the smallest footprint in the industry. The smallest footprint allows inductors, resistors and decoupling capacitors to be placed very close to the device for impedance tuning.
To use, place QFN device into the socket, close the lid by snapping the latch and turn compression screw to apply pressure. This socket can be used for quick device characterization using Kelvin resistance measurement techniques under extreme temperature conditions.
Pricing for the SSK-QFN-7000 is $726 at qty 1 with reduced pricing available depending on quantity required.
