Spring Adapters suit active antenna military applications.

Press Release Summary:

Available in 3 lengths, SMP-Spring Adapters are female-to-female, spring-loaded units designed for module-to-module and board-to-board high frequency interconnections. Adapters feature .046 in. axial travel, ±.010 in. radial misalignment tolerance, operating frequency of DC-18 GHz, and 1.2 Max VSWR guaranteed at 12 GHz. Units are suited for military applications using active antennas that have large number of coaxial interconnections per module or up to 60 SMP ports on single board.

Original Press Release:

Radiall Introduces New SMP-Spring Adapters for Easy Module-to-Module and Board-to-Board High Frequency Interconnect Applications

Ideal for military applications using active antennas CHANDLER, Ariz., July 30 /-- Radiall USA, Inc., is proud to introduce the addition of its new range of SMP bullet female-to-female spring-loaded adapters to their extensive offering of cost effective SMP solutions. Radiall's SMP-Spring adapters make it easy for the designer to handle the mechanical alignment tolerances needed for module-to-module and board-to-board high frequency interconnections. In addition, these adapters were specifically developed for military applications using active antennas that have a large number of coaxial interconnections per module or up to 60 SMP ports on a single board. Radiall's SMP-Spring adapters are available in three different lengths and feature a larger axial tolerance, .046" axial travel that is 4.5 times higher than fixed SMP adapters. They can interconnect modules that have different geometries and are larger in size. Therefore, SMP-Spring adapters allow for less design constraints with no compensation requirements for material expansion or deformation. Other features include radial misalignment tolerance of +/- .010" (+/-0.25mm), 1000 mating cycles, operating frequency range DC-18GHz, and 1.2 Max VSWR guaranteed at 12GHz. It is recommended to use the SMP-Spring adapter with a Radiall full detent receptacle connected on the spring side of the adapter, and the smooth bore "catcher's mitt" receptacle on the other side. The cone shape of the "catcher's mitt" receptacle allows for guiding the female interface of the adapter with ease.
