Spray Head Assembly operates on threadless shaft.

Press Release Summary:

Spray Head Drive Assembly provides automatic, instantaneous reversal without electronic controls or programming. No adjustments to motor's speed or rotational direction are needed to change travel direction or linear speed. Assembly eliminates backlash because linear drive uses rolling ring bearings. Axial thrust capability ranges from 6 to 800 lbs, depending on model selected. Travel speed is up to 13 ft/sec, over distances up to 16 ft.

Spray Head Drive Assembly For High Volume Batch Spraying And Coating Procedures

Aston, PA, May 2002 - Amacoil/Uhing has developed a spray head drive assembly providing automatic, instantaneous reversal without complex electronic controls or programming. Travel speed and direction are mechanically controlled - no adjustments to the motor's speed or rotational direction are needed in order to change the travel direction or linear speed of the spray head. Therefore, the system may be driven by an inexpensive single speed, unidirectional motor. Additionally, fewer interruptions to adjust controls results in longer periods of continuous production which improves throughput rates. Besides the on-off
switch, the assembly has virtually no other controls which minimizes operator training costs and simplifies maintenance.

Spray heads, including extension arms, may be attached directly to the load-bearing traversing housing (nut) - a separate load carrier is usually not needed. The linear drive which moves the spray head operates on a smooth, threadless shaft. Because there are no threads, dirt and debris will not collect on the shaft
thereby eliminating the need to fabricate or purchase a shaft bellows assembly in order to protect threads from clogging. The assembly also eliminates backlash because the linear drive uses "rolling ring" bearings which are designed so that zero-play point contact is constantly maintained between the bearings and the drive shaft.

Designed for reciprocating motion applications such as coating and spraying, the Amacoil/Uhing spray head assembly is made to customer specifications. Axial thrust capability ranges from 6 lbs. to 800 lbs., depending on the linear drive model selected. Travel speed is up to 13 ft./sec., over distances of up to 16 ft.
Accuracy is to within ±.005 inches and stroke length is user-adjustable to meet application needs. Options include self-adjusting automatic stroke length, dwell capability and the ability to ramp down/up the spray head travel speed. Amacoil
applications engineers provide technical and engineering support.
