Spot Welding System offers fully automatic operation.

Press Release Summary:

Available for Elektron MULTISPOT™ MI-100control T inverter spot welder, TrueAutoMode™ automates welding process to provide OEM-approved spot welds every time. System automatically detects which tools (electrodes and arms) are in use and makes necessary adjustments during welding. Weld resistance is measured ~1,000 times/sec, and current level, weld time, and clamp pressure are automatically adjusted as needed. Instant feedback, logging, and reporting capabilities are included.

Elektron Takes Worry Out of Welding with TrueAutoMode(TM): Industry's First Fully Automatic Spot Welding System

MADISON, Ind. – Elektron introduces worry-free welding with the collision repair industry's first fully automatic spot welding system: TrueAutoMode™. TrueAutoMode automates the welding process to provide perfect, OEM-approved spot welds every time.

"As vehicle manufacturers use a wider range of high-strength steels, exotic metals and proprietary manufacturing processes, repairing 'sheet metal' gets more complex every day," explains Mickey Swartz, director of global product management, collision, for Elektron parent company Vehicle Service Group (VSG). "TrueAutoMode takes the pressure off of the technician. When using an Elektron spot welder that's TrueAutoMode driven, virtually all the technician has to do after preparing the metal is position the welding gun. There is no input needed -- TrueAutoMode automatically controls all welding parameters, adjusting as necessary for changes in material composition and thickness, interference factors, and resistance."

TrueAutoMode automatically detects which tools (electrodes and arms) are in use and makes any necessary adjustments as it welds. This saves considerable time over other "automatic" welders that require technicians to stop and program the welder every time they change tips. Some systems also require the technician to enter additional information, such as the vehicle being repaired, sheet thickness and/or the type of weld. Leaving it to the technician to input all this information leads to the possibility of errors, as well as a loss of productivity. But with TrueAutoMode, the technician can just turn it on and start welding.

TrueAutoMode measures weld resistance approximately 1,000 times per second and automatically adjusts current level, weld time and clamp pressure as needed. It provides instant feedback to the technician if there's a bad weld and can log every weld. At the end of a job, a TrueAutoMode driven Elektron welder can print out a report that includes information on the settings, messages and actual weld parameters of every weld, enabling a shop to easily document that its welds were made correctly.

TrueAutoMode is available exclusively on the Elektron MULTISPOT™ MI-100control T inverter spot welder. The MI-100control T features the industry's lightest transformer pliers, longest lightweight cables and a high welding current, enabling technicians to properly weld high-strength steels, even in hard-to-reach areas, without sacrificing comfort. It is available with a variety of electrode styles to support multiple welding applications.

TrueAutoMode can be ordered on new MULTISPOT MI-100control T resistance spot welders or added to existing MI-100control T welders through an upgrade package. The MI-100control T is available with transformer X-pliers (model MTX-4900) and with transformer C-pliers (model MTC-6000).

More automotive OEMs worldwide have tested and approved Elektron welders than any other brand. The 30+ approvals provide third-party verification that Elektron's products can be used to properly repair today's vehicles.
