Split-Core Transducers provide ac current measurement.

Press Release Summary:

AT series ac current transducers measure 50/60 Hz ac signals with rms (average) computation, providing absolute accuracy better than 1.5% of nominal current over range of inputs. Combining current transformer and signal conditioning electronics, 1.75 x 2.6 x 1.4 in. devices feature 0.63 in. dia sensing aperture for non-contact measurement. They can be self- or loop-powered, and are available with primary current measurement ranges from 5-50 A.

LEM Introduces Compact Split-Core Transducers for AC Current Measurement

Innovative core material enables unprecedented performance level and price point

GENEVA, Switzerland and MILWAUKEE, WI (October 11, 2006) - LEM S.A., the world's leading manufacturer of isolated current and voltage measurement components, today announced its AT series of AC current transducers. An innovative core material enables split-core current transformer technology to reach new levels of performance for this product category. At the same time, the new core material enables a reduced price point without compromising LEM's demanding quality standards.

The AT transducers combine an accurate current transformer and signal conditioning electronics in a very light and compact case to offer substantial savings in size. They measure only 44.5 x 67 x 36.5 mm (1.75 x 2.6 x 1.4 inches) with a 16 mm (0.63 inch) diameter sensing aperture for non-contact measurement and are, therefore, particularly suitable for installation in tight environments.

The split-core transducers can be either self-powered or loop-powered, which means they are easy to install and put into operation and can be retro-fitted into existing installations without shutting down operation. This ease of mounting, coupled with the transducers' high reliability, will reduce installation and maintenance costs.

The transducers were designed to measure 50/60Hz AC signals with RMS (average) computation. They provide an absolute accuracy better than 1.5 percent of the nominal current over a broad range of inputs. A choice of primary current measurement ranges from 5A to 50A is available, with a selection of industry standard output types (4-20mA, 0-5VDC or 0-10VDC).

The AT integrated transducers will simplify the development of accurate, reliable and cost-effective solutions for real-time process automation, supervision and regulation. Principal applications will be in the field of industrial process control and condition monitoring of equipment such as HVAC, conveyers and pumps.

As with all LEM products, the AT series transducers benefit from the company's high-quality approach to manufacturing and are backed by a five-year guarantee. For more information, visit www.lem.com.
