Spinal Stabilization System offers total angulation of 70°.

Press Release Summary:

Developed for use by spinal surgeons, REVERE(TM) pedicle screw system is intended for cases of degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, and spinal stenosis. It consists of 5.5 mm diameter rod and screws in diameters of 4.5-8.5 mm with double-lead threads for rapid insertion. Insertion of non-threaded locking cap, requiring only ¼ turn, is facilitated by maximizing amount of play between cap and saddle of screw head.

Globus Medical Launches REVERE(TM) Stabilization System

Second Completely New Pedicle Screw System Introduced in Last Two Years

AUDUBON, Pa., Sept. 25 // -- Globus Medical, Inc., one of the ten largest spinal implant manufacturers in the US, has announced the introduction of the REVERE(TM) Stabilization System. Developed for use by spinal surgeons in cases of degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, and spinal stenosis, the REVERE System possesses several unique features that differentiate it from similar devices currently available in the marketplace.

The REVERE System is the second complete pedicle screw system launched by Globus over the past 24 months. "This unprecedented achievement further validates our strategy to radically improve how products are developed in the spinal implant industry," according to David Paul, Chief Executive Officer, Globus Medical. "We've built a product development engine that enables the company to create better products in shorter time frames through the use of tightly integrated teams performing multiple, rapid iterations of the design- prototype-test cycle."

"The fundamental attributes that set the REVERE System apart from other variable angle screw systems are its non-threaded locking cap, and a total angulation of 70 degrees," explained Andrew Iott, Group Engineering Manager, Globus Medical. "We designed the System with the aid of extensive surgeon input, resulting in extremely easy-to-use and well-designed instruments for implantation."

"One of the key benefits of the REVERE System is that the insertion of the cap, requiring only a quarter turn, has been made significantly easier by maximizing the amount of play between the locking cap and the saddle of the screw head," stated Gerard Girasole, MD, noted orthopedic surgeon and a member of the surgical design team. "This translates into a decreased need to reduce the rod, which would typically be required with other non-threaded locking mechanisms. The approach mimics the reduction capability provided by a threaded system, without any of the cross-threading issues, and still allows for a low profile screw."

The REVERE System features a 5.5 millimeter diameter rod, and screws in diameters of 4.5 to 8.5 millimeters with double-lead threads for more rapid insertion. "REVERE fills out Globus Medical's pedicle screw product line by offering a rod system with a smaller diameter," added Iott. "REVERE will also serve as the platform for a new deformity system under development for the treatment of pediatric scoliosis patients - an initiative that we're particularly enthusiastic about."
