CTGTALK 4.0 Launched to Improve Workforce Productivity

Update Takes Voice Productivity to the Next Level with Centralized Access to Multiple Devices

BUFFALO, N.Y., -- CTG, an international information technology (IT) solutions and services company, today announced it has released a new version of its voice technology solution, CTGTALK(TM) 4.0. This release allows the solution to be managed using smart phones, tablets, mobile devices, and/or desktop computers.

CTGTALK(TM) uses active environment adaptation, a specialized voice technology developed by CTG Logistics that monitors and automatically adapts to diverse noise environments. Newly released CTGTALK 4.0 also adds centralized storage of user preferences allowing workers to use any CTGTALK-enabled device in the facility regardless of device manufacturer. The updates result from customer feedback demanding technology integrations that improve productivity of existing work forces and use established best practices.

"Our customers asked us to add voice to applications that previously required barcode scanners or keypad entry. Adding voice allows workers to use both hands, speeding up warehouse operations and increasing the productivity of the existing work force," said Keith Wood, vice president of software development for ADC Integrated Systems, a CTGTALK reseller.

The 2010 State of Materials Handling Survey conducted for Logistics Management and its sister publication Modern Materials Handling by Peerless Research Group (PRG) stated "continuous improvement," "labor productivity, measurement, management," and "lean" as the top three best practices that the respondents considered very important--and will continue to consider as very important in the next two years--in both manufacturing and distribution sectors.

Multi-modal devices allow voice, scanning, and RFID solutions into the picking processes for manufacturing and distribution sectors. Managers in those facilities can use handhelds, cell phones, and tablet computers to direct technologies to the work force. This device flexibility allows fast problem resolution, improves productivity and reduces costs associated with management of the devices.

"The data warehouse remains one of the largest -- if not the largest -- information repository in the enterprise," stated Mark Beyer, research vice president of Gartner*. "Only by being aware of the key market trends and how emerging technology solutions will blend with proven practices can the CIO avoid budget waste through 'misdirection' by the data warehouse management and delivery team."
