Near-IR Variable Path Transmission Sampling System Facilitates Rapid Application Development for Process Analytical Technology

TUSTIN, Calif., - Axiom Analytical, Inc. has announced its fiber-optic coupled FST-600N Series Near-Infrared Transmission Sampling Systems. Available in both manual and auto-sampling versions, the new spectroscopic sampling systems provide the ability to analyze pharmaceutical and chemical samples over pathlengths ranging from zero to 5 mm. The operation of the FST-600 is based on the use of a moveable fiber-optic probe. This is mounted on a rack and pinion stage with an electronic path length readout. Samples are contained in cuvettes or plastic bags. Both heated and multisampling stages are available.

The auto-sampling version of the FST-600 features computer control of path length and sample sequencing. This allows the system to be programmed to sequentially analyze multiple samples either at a fixed path length or a series of path length.

The Company anticipates that the FST-600 will find application in fields such as chemical and pharmaceutical development as well in process analytical technology (PAT) modeling and scale-up. Methods developed using the FST-600 can be applied on-line in full-scale chemical process analysis in batch reaction vessels or continuous process by using the Company's robust FPT Series fiber-optic near-IR process transmission probes and spectroscopic flow cells.
