Horiba Jobin Yvon Presents Activa(TM), the Simultaneous Solid State Detector ICP Spectrometer With Advanced CCD Technology

The company HORIBA Jobin Yvon is proud to announce the worldwide launch of the new ACTIVA(TM) Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometer, which offers simultaneous analysis and background at multiple wavelengths within a Wavelength Analytical View (WAV). This cutting-edge technology provides flexibility, speed, and high resolution, enabling users to select any wavelength from 160 to 800 nm, choose the WAV mode, and personalize analysis speed and resolution.

The ACTIVA(TM) ICP-OES spectrometer uses a megapixel, back-illuminated charge-coupled device-type detector (CCD, 2048 x 512 pixels). This back-illuminated technology, combined with an extremely low-noise amplifier, makes the detector suitable for even the most demanding spectroscopy applications.

ACTIVA(TM) operates with spectral windows that are several nm wide. These are known as Wavelength Analytical Views (WAVs). The dual JY holographic gratings-which have negligible optical aberrations-make it possible to use two differently sized WAV windows of up to 8 and 16 nanometers, giving the user the option of high resolution or greater analysis speed.

ACTIVA(TM) also features a new optical design with an achromatic imager that optimizes the image of the best analytical zone of the plasma on to the flat field position of the CCD. The light is then distributed vertically over 512 pixels, which are binned to allow the full capacity of the detector to be used with no increase in noise.

ACTIVA(TM) provides a unique quick-release torch design and spacious sample compartment. The fully demountable, pre-aligned torch features today's largest injector tube of 3-mm as well as the sheath gas device that enhances performance with high dissolved solids and reduces of matrix interferences. A wide variety of spray chambers, nebulizers and sample introduction cassettes are available for the analysis of all sample types. Fully automatic, unattended analysis is possible with the new USB interface AS-500 autosampler.

HORIBA Jobin Yvon develops, manufactures, and markets scientific components and instruments for a wide range of scientific applications including space, synchrotrons, and high-energy lasers, as well as the following industrial applications: process control, semiconductor testing, and testing for the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotech, and other industries.
