Spansion Announces Discretix CryptoFlash Will Be Integrated into Spansion's Security Processor for Handsets


TEL AVIV, Israel and SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 7 /-- Spansion Inc. (NASDAQ:SPSN), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced that Discretix's CryptoFlash(TM) security technology will be integrated into Spansion's security processor for its Flash-memory based security solutions for handsets. Discretix, based in Netanya, Israel, is a leader in embedded security solutions for Flash memory and portable devices.

Spansion's memory-based handset security solution is designed to protect valuable consumer data, content and code for all segments of the handset market. Spansion's secure Flash memory solution, which includes the Discretix CryptoFlash security technology, will be offered to customers as a security processor integrated into a Spansion Multi Chip Package (MCP), with sampling planned for the first half of 2007. Depending on the handset configuration, the Spansion MCP will also include some of the following: Spansion MirrorBit® NOR Flash memory, Spansion MirrorBit ORNAND(TM) solutions, pSRAM or DRAM.
