Economic Spacing Wheel Ensures Accurate Product Spacing,Controls Production Flow
San Juan, PR (March 18, 2005) - The new Spacing Wheel from AutoPak Engineering Corporation provides a cost-effective way for product packagers to control product flow and provide spacing between products, keeping production running smoothly. Ideal for small, lightweight bottles or cartons ranging from 1/2" to 18" in width, the Spacing Wheel takes up minimal space on the production floor and is easily incorporated into packaging lines. AutoPak's Spacing Wheel can be used to perform several different functions during production. Its most basic use is to provide spacing between products as they move through equipment that requires containers to be specifically timed and positioned for optimum performance, such as induction sealers, retorquers and verification devices. In addition, by setting the Spacing Wheel speed, product flow can be reduced or even stopped if triggered by an equipment malfunction or another external signal. The slower the operating speed, the larger the gap between products will be. This technique also provides a continuous, evenly spaced flow of product from intermittent equipment, which discharges products in batches. One application is to help control product flow into a manual packing station from an accumulator. Product manufacturers can also use the Spacing Wheel to control the back-up pressure at packaging equipment infeed with highly sensitive timing devices. The Spacing Wheel shortens changeover time compared with systems that use infeed screws for product spacing. By rotating a single hand-wheel, operators can open or close the spacing wheel to adjust for different size products. A digital counter records different set-up adjustments, saving operators valuable time when duplicating product runs. Minor adjustments can also be easily made to accommodate different bottle diameters. The Spacing Wheel features aluminum and stainless steel construction for durability and ease of maintenance.
