SouthWest NanoTechnologies to Demonstrate 3D Capacitive Touch Sensor Featuring Transparent, Thermoformed Carbon Nanotube Ink at Printed Electronics USA 2014 (Booth J25)

-- "Conductive and Semiconducting Single-Wall Carbon Nanotube Inks" will be Topic of Company Presentation (Nov. 20 – 3:30 p.m.) --

NORMAN, OK – At the upcoming Printed Electronics USA 2014 Show, SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc. (SWeNT) will demonstrate and discuss the use of carbon nanotube inks as a superior material for certain touch capacitance and membrane switch replacement applications. SWeNT will be exhibiting in Booth J25 at the show, November 19 and 20, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.

SWeNT's CNT Inks, based on V2V™ Ink technology developed by alliance partner, Chasm Technologies, Inc. can be printed using standard methods and equipment.

At PE, SWeNT will be demonstrating 3D capacitive touch sensors using thermoformed polycarbonate with transparent buttons that can be used in a vast range of applications including automotive dashboards, home appliances and many other electronic devices.

The demonstration leverages the printed electronic screen printing capabilities of SWeNT's Certified V2V™ Printer DuraTech Industries. DuraTech is a manufacturer of screen printed graphics and identification products for Fortune 1000 companies. In the printed electronics category, it designs and manufactures customized membrane switches used in applications that are dependent on total integration and reliability for the medical, instrumentation, industrial controls and fitness equipment arenas.

"Using V2V™ conductive transparent CNT inks, we can create membrane switches and touch capacitive devices that can be thermoformed without losing electrical performance," explains Steve Roellich, printed electronics development engineer, DuraTech Industries. "We envision a whole new generation of touch sensitive buttons that can be formed in more desirable configurations using a standard screen printing process."

"We're excited that we have a great partner, like DuraTech, which has strong relationships with so many companies whose products would benefit from this technology," explains SWeNT CEO Dave Arthur. "Visitors to our booth can see and touch the demo that highlights the unique properties of our transparent, conductive inks which are printable, flexible, stretchable and thermo-formable. Customers will learn firsthand how to use our ink solutions to print large area, low-cost devices for a wide range of applications for automotive, consumer electronics, and other markets.  SWeNT also offers aqueous coating fluids for applications requiring transparent conductors."

Also at the PE show, Dan Leven, vice president of marketing at SWeNT, is scheduled to present a paper on "Conductive and Semiconducting Single-Wall Carbon Nanotube Inks." (Nov. 20th at 3:30 p.m.)

Printed Electronics USA 2014 is the world's largest event on printed, organic and flexible electronics assesses end-user requirements, the latest diverse technology capability and all the opportunities. Over 200 exhibitors and 2,500 attendees are expected.
