Sound Sensor measures presence and loudness of sound.

Press Release Summary:

With current consumption of 8.5 mA, Model 1133 measures sound pressure level between 50-100 dB in input frequency range of 100 Hz to 8 kHz. Typical examples of sounds that can be measured include calm breathing, normal conversation at 1 m away, passenger car 10 m away, traffic on busy road 10 m away, and jack hammer 1 m away. Plug-and-play sensor can be programmed using API that is supported under Windows, Windows CE, Mac OS X, and Linux.

CALGARY, Alberta, - Phidgets Inc. released today the 1133 - Sound Sensor that measures the presence and loudness of sound. The sensor measures sound pressure level (SPL) between 50db to 100dB in the input frequency range of 100Hz to 8kHz.

"The Sound Sensor is another example of the our efforts to give our users a wide assorment of sensors allowing them to monitor their environment", said Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing.

Here are some examples of the type of sounds that can be measured with the Sound Sensor:

Software Environment

"Unlike a lot of our competitor's products that require their users to write some firmware code in order to use their sensor, we are completely "Plug and Play" says Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing. "With Phidgets, you plug it in and start using it and when it comes to programming, the user, not us, decides which operating system and which computer language he wants to use", added Rousseau.
