G.R.A.S. Sound & Vibration Debuts Industry Exclusive Class 1 Prepolarized CCP Sound Intensity Probe

Holte, Denmark - G.R.A.S. Sound & Vibration (G.R.A.S.)(www.gras.dk), a globally renowned designer and manufacturer of precision acoustic measurement products, including microphones, preamplifiers, acoustic calibration equipment and related accessories, has announced the North American debut of the Type 50GI, the industry's only Class 1 prepolarized CCP (IEPE-type) sound intensity probe, designed for high-reliability acoustic measurements across a variety of applications.

The G.R.A.S. CCP Intensity Probe Type 50GI is designed for direct compatibility with most industry standard signal analyzers and IEPE-type data acquisition devices. It is supplied in kit form with its own carrying case and shipped complete with all of the necessary supporting components for high-reliability sound intensity measurements. These specially designed components include a phase matched G.R.A.S. ½" Prepolarized Intensity-microphone Set (Type 40GK); two G.R.A.S. ¼" CCP Preamplifiers (Type 26CB); four solid interchangeable spacers; a windscreen; two BNC cables and a probe handle.

The included pair of G.R.A.S. Type 40GK prepolarized high-precision CCP microphones meets IEC 61043 requirements for Class 1 intensity probes and incorporate a uniquely designed pressure equalization system, ensuring that phase characteristics are extremely well-defined. The microphones are calibrated along with two rugged ¼" CCP preamplifiers measuring 40 mm long. Both microphones and preamplifiers feature a robust stainless steel casing. This added ruggedness allows G.R.A.S. to offer more innovative probe designs that minimize sound field disturbances otherwise brought about by shadow and diffraction effects across the full frequency range, with a symmetry that enables reliable calibrations as described in the proposed ISO/DIS 9614-2 standard for sound power measurements using sound intensity probes. For added durability, microphones and preamplifiers are swivel-head mounted onto the telescopic arm of the probe handle. The spacers allow microphones to be placed at varying lengths of 12 mm to 100 mm across a full frequency range of 50 Hz to 10 kHz, and may be interchanged without dismantling the probe.

Recommended optional accessories, also available from G.R.A.S., include a single- (Type 12AL) or dual channel CCP power module (Type 12AQ); an acoustic intensity calibrator (Type 51AB); and a two-port calibration coupler (RA0024), to be used with either the pistonphone calibrator with integral barometer/thermometer (Type 42AP) or standard pistonphone calibrator (Type 42AA); as well as various additional cable lengths and adapters. All are accompanied by full technical sales and applications engineering support and a comprehensive product warranty.

With its rugged construction, exceptional performance characteristics, industry exclusive Class 1 designation and specially designed supporting components, the G.R.A.S. CCP Intensity Probe Type 50GI is ideal for any high-precision sound intensity or sound power measurement application; sound source localization and sound ranking; or for meeting any IEC 61043 standard acoustic measurement requirement.
